Olive Coffman started her craft in 1980 in Birmingham, where she attended a small group learning on-glaze painting and kiln work. Following the teacher’s retirement, she began teaching the group herself, and bought her first kiln.

Olive takes any white glazed china or porcelain - plates, mugs, bowls, tiles - indeed any household china, and applies special on-glaze paint (mixed with medium). The item is then fired in the kiln. Depending on the design, up to 4 separate  applications of paint and firings may be needed. After firing the paint is permanent.

Commissions can be undertaken for personalised items such as house numbers or name plates.
