Handspun knitwear
I have been spinning for 30 years and keep the natural colour of the fleece unless I have a lot of white, when I dye using traditional vegetable dyes (home grown where possible). As each fleece & colour is unique – so is every dye batch – colours cannot be reproduced.
I use local wool and alpaca where possible – this year’s wool will be from Parva Vineyard and the alpacas from Harrow Hill in the Forest of Dean, just across the road from where I live.
Nothing is wasted! The coarser wool is made into rugs – very hard-wearing when they have settled down – and the leftovers makes garden wadding to keep bugs off the veg and strawberries.
